What we do

On the initiative of the City of Leuven, KU[N]ST Leuven and Leuvenement are joining forces in a new overarching entity: LEF of Leuven Events & Festivals (which also means “boldness” in Dutch).

Why LEF?

LEF is new. LEF is bold (in Dutch). LEF represents what Leuven stands for.
What is good remains. What is coming will be better.

On the initiative of the City of Leuven, KU[N]ST Leuven and Leuvenement unite in this new structure: LEF – Leuven Events & Festivals.

An acronym that perfectly captures the essence:

  • LEF is needed to innovate,
  • to reach new audiences,
  • to create sustainable impact,
  • to remain locally rooted while radiating internationally.

In short: to put Leuven even more firmly on the map.

What does LEF stand for?

LEF aims to take a new, more coordinated approach to:

  • strengthen the impact of Leuven’s events — locally, nationally, and internationally,
  • give space to new talent,
  • build bridges between sectors and domains,
  • create sustainable innovation within urban policy.

LEF focuses on three clear future pathways:

  1. Expanding Impact
    We strengthen the national and international impact of flagship events and deepen their social relevance. Leuven is launching Body & Soul, a new city event exploring how body and mind can flourish — and how Leuven can inspire Europe as a city made for and by people.
  2. Growing Talent
    We make time and space for new and emerging organizational talent, ensuring fresh ideas get every opportunity to flourish.
  3. Tailored Innovation
    Through a thoughtful support model, we create room for innovation within the city’s event policy.
