Op zoek naar oever (Seeking a Shore) Fragmenten in blauw (Fragments in Blue)

“Endlessly shoreless,” Anne-Valérie de Mûelenaere (°1986, Roeselare) once noted in one of her works. Today she seeks a shore- both in her art and in her life.

This exhibition gathers her recent works into an eclectic collection, connected by colour, tone, and undercurrent.

Oil pastel, paint, and drawings alternate - sometimes rough and intuitive, sometimes precise and delineated. It is an act of resistance against her own perfectionism. Images and words meet and weave together into a layered language.

The works breathe the movement between restlessness and moments of stillness. She is inspired by perfect imperfection, the beauty of the everyday, and the small joys of the day.

Blue often appears as a quiet thread throughout her creations: sometimes heavy, sometimes airy, sometimes restrained.

In their vulnerability, chaos, and contradictions, the works leave room for recognition. What seems heavy at first glance often reveals a smile or a hint of humour upon closer look.
