Simon Allemeersch

Simon Allemeersch is a theatre maker, a member of the collective Lucinda Ra, and a researcher at the Department of Social Work and Social Pedagogy at Ghent University. His PhD focuses on the housing trajectories of residents in social high-rise buildings with lived experience in mental health care.

Lucinda Ra is an ad hoc collective of theatre makers, jazz musicians, and visual artists. The collective is known for long-term artistic residencies in contexts where art is far from obvious—such as social housing, child and youth psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, or rural villages. Since four years, Lucinda Ra has been in residence at the Dr. Guislain Museum, working at the crossroads of museum practice, psychiatry, and the neighbourhood. Together with the museum and a wide network of volunteers, they organise the annual PsychoJazz Festival.
